AIGI 22 High-Temperature Pump/Valve Packing
AIGI 22 is a gland packing braided from high-strength, high-purity carbon fibre with only minor braiding sizings added. That purity gives the finished packing exceptional temperature and pressure resistance, making it a specialist for hot, hard-working pumps and valves.
Product Benefits
- Nearly pure carbon: Many packings rely heavily on lubricants and fillers that burn off or extrude in hot, high-pressure service, causing the seal to slacken. AIGI 22 takes the opposite approach with nearly pure carbon and graphite fibre and minimal additives.
- Keeps strength and volume: The packing keeps its strength and volume where lesser materials give up.
- Extreme steam capability: It seals steam at extremely high temperatures and withstands very high valve pressures.
- Wide pH tolerance: It remains serviceable across a notably wide pH range, from strongly acidic to strongly alkaline media.

- Hot pumps and valves: AIGI 22 is built for high-temperature pumps and valves, with steam service as its signature duty.
- Hot media handled: It also handles hot water, solvents, acids and alkalies.
- Plant-wide hot services: It covers boiler houses, steam distribution and hot process services around the plant.
Good to Know
- Rotating and reciprocating: The packing is black, braided from carbon and graphite fibre, and copes with brisk shaft speeds as well as reciprocating duties.
- Higher valve ratings: Its valve-pressure capability is markedly higher than its rotating-pump rating, as is typical for braided packings.
- Mind oxygen service: The allowable temperature in oxygen-rich service is considerably lower than in steam, so confirm the service medium when specifying.
