AIGI 23MSC Multi-Silicone-Core Abrasion-Resistant Packing
AIGI 23MSC takes the PTFE-and-aramid abrasion-resistant construction of AIGI 23 and reinforces it with multiple resilient silicone-rubber cores. The elastic cores give the packing superior memory, so it keeps sealing through extreme radial shaft motion and vibration. A post-braid PTFE lubricant protects the shaft as well.
Product Benefits
- Follows rough shafts: Slurry equipment with worn bearings or long, whippy shafts punishes ordinary packing, since every excursion opens a leak path.
- Springs with the shaft: The multiple silicone cores compress and spring back with the shaft, maintaining excellent leakage control with minimal gland adjustment.
- AIGI 23 toughness kept: The braid keeps the flexibility and abrasion resistance of AIGI 23, with aramid strength where the packing works hardest and self-lubricating PTFE in the body.
- Shaft-friendly lubricant: The post-braiding PTFE lubricant significantly reduces the shaft wear normally associated with aramid packings.
Where It's Used
- Pumps, mixers, agitators: 23MSC is made for pumps, mixers and agitators running in slurry and abrasive applications.
- Extreme radial motion: It is the family member for duties where radial shaft motion is extreme.
- Long overhung shafts: Agitators and mixers in particular, with their long overhung shafts, benefit from the packing's ability to follow shaft deflection.
Good to Know
- Yellow-and-white multi-core braid: The braid combines PTFE filament and aramid fibre around multiple silicone-rubber cores, and suits moderately acidic through alkaline media rather than pH extremes.
- Generous temperature range: Like its siblings, it offers generous temperature capability for an abrasion-duty packing.
- Lighter-duty stablemates: If shaft motion is present but less severe, the single-core AIGI 23SC is the lighter-duty stablemate, and plain AIGI 23 covers normal shaft running.
- For the roughest equipment: Reserve the multi-core version for the roughest-running equipment.
