AIGI 23SC Silicone-Core Abrasion-Resistant Packing
AIGI 23SC is the PTFE-and-aramid abrasion-resistant packing of the AIGI 23 family, built around a single resilient silicone-rubber core. The elastic core gives the braid better memory against radial shaft motion and vibration, while a post-braid PTFE lubricant keeps shaft wear down. It is meant for aggressive slurry service.
Product Benefits
- Recovers with the shaft: The silicone core lets the packing recover its shape as the shaft moves, maintaining excellent leakage control with minimal gland adjustment.
- Fewer re-tightening rounds: That resilience translates into fewer re-tightening rounds and steadier sealing on equipment that never runs perfectly true.
- AIGI 23 virtues kept: The braid keeps aramid strength for abrasion resistance and flexible self-lubricating PTFE for sealability.
- Shaft-friendly lubricant: A post-braiding PTFE lubricant significantly reduces the shaft wear normally associated with aramid fibre packings.
Where It's Used
- Aggressive slurry duty: 23SC serves pumps, mixers and agitators in aggressive slurry applications.
- Home industries: Mining, power and sewage are its home industries.
- Solids plus shaft motion: These are services where abrasive solids and imperfect shaft running usually come together.
Good to Know
- Yellow-and-white single-core braid: The braid pairs PTFE filament and aramid fibre with a single silicone-rubber core, and covers moderately acidic through alkaline media.
- Generous temperature range: Temperature capability is generous for its class.
- Family alternatives: For extreme radial motion, step up to the multi-core AIGI 23MSC; where the shaft runs normally, plain AIGI 23 suffices.
- Balanced middle choice: The single-core 23SC sits in the middle as the pragmatic choice for typical slurry equipment with some vibration.
