AIGI 25 Special Aramid Packing
AIGI 25 is an interbraided packing made from a special wear-resisting aramid fibre yarn. It combines excellent strength, flexibility and abrasion resistance, and is designed to seal the most aggressive abrasive and slurry duties a plant can throw at it.
Product Benefits
- All-aramid toughness: When the medium is essentially liquid sandpaper, packing life is decided by fibre toughness, and AIGI 25 is built entirely from wear-resisting aramid yarn.
- No soft body to erode: There is no soft body to erode away; the whole cross-section fights the abrasion.
- Still flexible: Despite that toughness, the interbraid construction keeps the packing flexible enough to seat well and seal reliably.
- Last-resort grade: It is the grade to reach for when blended or corner-reinforced packings have already been worn out by the service.
Where It's Used
- The worst abrasive duties: AIGI 25 seals the most aggressive abrasive and slurry pumps, mixers and agitators.
- Natural habitats: Mining, steel, sewage, and pulp and paper plants are its natural homes.
- Solids-laden fluids: It belongs anywhere solids-laden process fluids grind through ordinary sealing materials.
Good to Know
- Yellow all-aramid braid: The braid handles moderately acidic through alkaline media and tolerates far higher pressures in reciprocating duty than on rotating shafts.
- Use a flush: The use of a flush is strongly suggested in this class of service to carry abrasives away from the stuffing box.
- Mind the shaft sleeve: Aramid is a hard fibre, so pair the packing with a good shaft sleeve and sound gland practice.
- Silicone-core variants: For equipment with pronounced radial motion or vibration, the same yarn is available with resilient silicone-rubber cores as AIGI 25SC (single core) and AIGI 25MSC (multiple cores).
