AIGI 97W Synthetic Multi-Service Packing

AIGI 97W is an interbraid packing that combines a newly developed synthetic composite yarn with a purified colloidal break-in lubricant. The lubricant, together with the yarn's high tensile strength, prevents failure at start-up and keeps the packing lubricated throughout the break-in period, making it a versatile multi-service seal for chemical plants.

Product Benefits

  • Built for break-in: Start-up is the moment most packings fail: the rings run dry before they bed in, overheat and burn out. 97W's specially formulated colloidal lubricant is built precisely for this window.
  • Continuous lubrication: The lubricant maintains lubrication throughout break-in, so the packing survives its most vulnerable hours and settles into stable, low-leakage service.
  • One packing, many services: A single style covers mild acids, caustics, brine, gases, oils, steam and clean water-based services.
  • Simpler stores: Standardising on one multi-service packing reduces inventory lines and the risk of installing the wrong packing.

Where It's Used

  • General chemical duty: 97W is aimed at general chemical plant applications.
  • Typical media: Mild acids and caustics, brine, gases, oils, steam and non-abrasive water-based services are all within its range.
  • The broad middle ground: It covers the wide middle band of everyday chemical-plant pumping duties.

Good to Know

  • Ready to install: The packing is white, interbraided from synthetic composite yarn and impregnated with its break-in lubricant, so no separate pre-soak is needed before installation.
  • Neutral-to-alkaline chemistry: Its chemistry favours the neutral-to-alkaline side, and it handles caustics comfortably.
  • Not for strong acids: Strongly acidic services are better served by a graphite or PTFE-based style.
  • Non-abrasive media only: For slurry-laden services, choose a packing designed for abrasive duty instead.
