AIGI Nickel Plated H-13 Disc Springs

AIGI Nickel Plated H-13 Disc Springs are heavy-duty live-loading springs for bolted flanges in chemical environments. A nickel-plated finish over the H-13 spring steel gives a hard, wear- and corrosion-resistant surface, so the spring keeps holding bolt preload where plain steel would pit and weaken.

  • Corrosion-resistant finish: The advanced nickel plating shields the spring from acidic and alkaline attack and can even withstand prolonged exposure to halogens.

  • The stronger of the two: Of the two AIGI nickel-plated grades, H-13 offers the higher strength and handles the hotter end of the range.

Where It's Used

  • Petrochemical flanges: Designed for petrochemical service, where bolted joints face aggressive process media and corrosive atmospheres.
  • Joints that move: Disc springs earn their place wherever vibration, differential thermal expansion, gasket relaxation or bolt creep would otherwise let bolt load fall away.
  • High-strength bolting: The H-13 grade is matched to high-strength alloy steel bolts such as grade 8.8 or SAE 8.

Good to Know

  • Right load matters: Too little spring load lets the joint leak, while too much can crush the gasket, so the spring has to be chosen for the joint.
  • Calculated selection: AIGI's Live-Loading Calculation Software (LLCS), available through authorised distributors, works out the live-loading stress and recommends the springs and installation torque.
  • Tested batches: AIGI can supply a certified load-deflection curve for each batch of springs.
  • Plain version available: Conventional H-13 disc springs without nickel plating are also available.
