Alfa Laval
T6 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger
The Alfa Laval T6 is a compact gasketed plate heat exchanger from the Industrial line, designed for high throughput and excellent thermal performance. Its heat-transfer area is easily modified by adding or removing plates, and the unit opens readily for cleaning.
Product Benefits
- Compact but capable: The T6 packs serious thermal capability into a compact frame.
- Tuned, even flow: FlexFlow and CurveFlow plate designs tune the channels and spread flow evenly across the plates, while OmegaPort noncircular port holes improve media entry.
- Efficient for its size: Together these features deliver high efficiency and low fouling tendency for a unit of this size.
- Many connection options: It is also unusually versatile in how it connects: threaded, welded and NPT options as well as studded flange ports are available, easing retrofit into existing piping.
- Certified and shipboard: Approvals to major pressure vessel codes, including ASME and PED, plus marine class society acceptance, cover certified and shipboard installations.
Where It's Used
- High throughput, small footprint: The T6 handles high-throughput heating and cooling duties in a compact footprint.
- Typical services: These include utility cooling circuits, HVAC and refrigeration systems, and process heating and cooling within larger plants.
- Industries served: Users span biotech and pharmaceutical, chemicals, energy and utilities, food, dairy and beverages, home and personal care, machinery and manufacturing, marine and transportation, mining, minerals and pigments, pulp and paper, semiconductor and electronics, steel, and water and waste treatment.
Good to Know
- Broad plate program: The plate program is broad for a compact unit: standard stainless steels, several high-alloy grades, and nickel and titanium variants.
- Double-wall option: A double-wall plate option is available where the two media must be kept strictly separate.
- Gasket families: Gaskets are available in several elastomer families, including a high-temperature option.
- Wide design envelope: The frame is epoxy-painted carbon steel, and the design envelope reaches from vacuum service to high pressures across a wide temperature range.
- Pick connections early: Choose the connection style early: threaded for simple utility hook-ups, welded or flanged where the piping code requires it.
