Alfa Laval
TL10B Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger
The Alfa Laval TL10B is a gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchanger from the Industrial line, built around a relatively tall plate. That geometry suits duties with long temperature programs, where a fluid must be heated or cooled across a wide span in a single unit. It is a natural fit wherever high heat recovery is a priority.
Product Benefits
- Long thermal contact path: The tall plate gives the two fluids a long contact path, which allows close temperature approaches and recovers more heat than a generic exchanger of similar footprint.
- Lower energy bills: On heat-recovery duties, that extra recovered heat translates directly into reduced energy costs.
- Capacity stays adjustable: Because the plate pack is gasketed rather than welded, capacity can be adjusted after installation simply by adding or removing plates.
- Tailored to the fluids: A large range of plate and gasket types lets the unit be matched to the media at hand.
- Code approved: The design is approved to the pvcALS, ASME and PED pressure vessel codes.
Where It's Used
- Long temperature programs: Typical services are heating, cooling and heat-recovery duties with long temperature programs, in both process and utility positions.
- Utility to interchanger duties: The unit handles everything from routine cooling-water circuits to interchanger positions where waste heat is put back to work.
- Process industries: Alfa Laval positions it across chemicals, energy and utilities, food, dairy and beverages, HVAC and refrigeration, pulp and paper, and steel.
- Heavy and high-purity sectors: Mining and minerals, marine, biotech and pharmaceuticals, semiconductor manufacturing, and water and waste treatment are also on the list.
Good to Know
- Wide plate material menu: Plates are offered in a spectrum of materials, from standard austenitic stainless steels up to high alloys, nickel and titanium grades, so aggressive or chloride-bearing media can be accommodated.
- Several gasket families: Gaskets come in several elastomer families, including NBR, EPDM, FKM and HeatSeal types, chosen to match fluid chemistry and operating temperature.
- Frame and connections: The frame and cover are epoxy-painted carbon steel, and connections are studded ports to common ASME, EN and JIS flange practice depending on the code chosen.
- Openable for service: As with any gasketed exchanger, the pack can be opened for inspection, mechanical cleaning and regasketing. Plan gasket material selection around both the duty and the cleaning regime.
