TL15B Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

The Alfa Laval TL15B is a tall-plate gasketed plate heat exchanger from the Industrial line, sized for substantial process and utility duties. Its plate proportions are tuned for long temperature programs, where high heat recovery is appreciated. The gasketed construction keeps the plate pack easy to open for inspection and cleaning.

Product Benefits

  • Thermal length where it counts: For duties with a large temperature change across the unit, the tall plate delivers the thermal length needed to reach tight temperature approaches, so more energy is recovered per pass.
  • Better recovery economics: Compared with generic alternatives, that means stronger heat-recovery returns without an oversized installation.
  • Openable for service: The flexible plate pack is a practical advantage over welded or tubular designs, because the unit can be opened for servicing.
  • Area follows the plant: Heat transfer area can be added or removed as plant requirements evolve, and a large range of plate and gasket types is available.
  • Pressure vessel approvals: The unit is approved to the pvcALS, ASME and PED pressure vessel codes.

Where It's Used

  • Long temperature programs: It is applied to heating, cooling and heat-recovery services where the temperature program is long.
  • Process and utility positions: Both process interchanging and utility positions such as cooling and heating loops are within its scope.
  • Core process industries: Target sectors include chemicals, energy and utilities, food, dairy and beverages, HVAC and refrigeration, pulp and paper, and steel.
  • Wider industry reach: Mining, minerals and pigments, marine and transportation, biotech and pharmaceuticals, home and personal care, semiconductor and electronics, machinery, and water and waste treatment are also served.

Good to Know

  • Stainless plates, three elastomers: Plates are supplied in austenitic stainless steel grades, with gaskets available in NBR, EPDM and HNBR to cover a wide band of temperatures and fluid chemistries.
  • Frame and connections: The frame and cover are epoxy-painted carbon steel, with studded ports following ASME, EN or JIS flange practice depending on the pressure vessel code.
  • Gaskets are the wearing part: Match the elastomer to the duty temperature and the media on both sides, and factor regasketing intervals into the maintenance plan.
  • Easy on-site access: The ability to open the unit on site keeps cleaning and plate inspection straightforward.
