TL35B Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

The Alfa Laval TL35B is one of the larger tall-plate gasketed plate heat exchangers in the Industrial line. It is built for duties with long temperature programs and high heat recovery, at flow rates where a substantial plate pack is needed. Heat transfer area can be reconfigured after installation by adding or removing plates.

Product Benefits

  • Tight temperature approaches: The tall plate profile provides the thermal length to close in on tight temperature approaches, which is exactly what large-scale heat-recovery duties demand.
  • Less surface than generic units: A generic exchanger sized for the same duty would typically need more surface or more units to achieve the same recovery.
  • Flexible investment: The gasketed pack keeps capacity following the plant rather than the other way around, so the unit adapts as loads change.
  • Opens for cleaning: The pack can be opened for inspection and cleaning, and a wide selection of plate and gasket types is available to match the duty.
  • Code approved: It is approved to the pvcALS, ASME and PED pressure vessel codes.

Where It's Used

  • Large-scale duties: Typical positions are large heating, cooling and heat-recovery services with long temperature programs.
  • Process to district scale: It works from process interchangers all the way up to district-scale utility loops.
  • Core process industries: The list starts with chemicals, energy and utilities, food, dairy and beverages, HVAC and refrigeration, pulp and paper, and steel.
  • Heavy and specialised sectors: It also serves mining, minerals and pigments, marine and transportation, biotech and pharmaceuticals, semiconductor and electronics, machinery and manufacturing, home and personal care, and water and waste treatment.

Good to Know

  • Broad alloy range: This model offers one of the wider material menus in the family, with plates from standard stainless grades through high-alloy steels to nickel, Alloy C276 and titanium options, so it can be specified for chemically demanding media.
  • Five gasket executions: Gaskets are available in NBR, EPDM, FKM, HNBR and HeatSeal executions.
  • Frame and connections: The frame and cover are epoxy-painted carbon steel with studded ports to ASME, EN and JIS flange practice.
  • Specify chemistry first: Let the fluid chemistry drive the plate alloy and the temperature drive the gasket elastomer, because the two choices together determine the service life of the pack.
