Cam-Tite Caged Bonnet

The Cam-Tite Caged Bonnet is a patented option for the Cam-Tite ball valve that captures the ball, seats, seat rings, grounding springs and cover gasket in a single metal saddle. Unbolting and lifting off the bonnet removes all the internals as one subassembly, making maintenance turnarounds fast and predictable.

Product Benefits

  • Exposure time matters: In hazardous services, every minute spent working on an opened valve is exposure time for maintenance crews.
  • Lift out, drop in: The caged design was created for exactly these applications: technicians remove the bonnet bolts, lift off the assembly and drop in a fresh cartridge of internals instead of extracting and reassembling loose parts piece by piece.
  • Shorter outages: The single-subassembly approach shortens scheduled outages and reduces the chance of misassembled parts.
  • Less hands-on contact: It also limits hands-on contact with components that have been wetted by the process, turning an involved valve rebuild into a straightforward swap.

Where It's Used

  • Tight maintenance windows: The caged bonnet targets hazardous applications where planned maintenance windows are tight and rework is unacceptable.
  • Nuclear and commercial: It is offered in both nuclear and commercial configurations, reflecting its origins in services where quality assurance and repeatable maintenance procedures are essential.
  • Difficult process media: Typical settings are process lines handling difficult or dangerous media.
  • Fast return to service: Being able to restore a valve quickly, with internals replaced as a verified unit, carries real operational value.

Good to Know

  • Patented captured saddle: The design is protected by a US patent and built around a captured metal saddle that keeps the ball, seat rings, seats and springs in their correct relative positions during removal and installation.
  • Kits prepared ahead: Replacement internals can therefore be prepared in advance as complete kits.
  • Across the bonnet family: The caged arrangement is available in standard, extended, severe-service and bellows configurations.
  • Pair with your stem seal: That means the quick-turnaround benefit can be combined with the stem-sealing arrangement your service requires.
