Dia-Flo Straightway Diaphragm Valve
The Dia-Flo straightway diaphragm valve has a full-port, completely unobstructed flow path with no weir, so abrasive, high-solids fluids pass straight through. It is built for slurries that clog or abrade other valve types, even those carrying very heavy solids loadings.
Product Benefits
- Rodded out either way: The straight-through bore can be cleared from either direction, a practical advantage when lines plug.
- Negligible pressure drop: The diaphragm lifts high into the bonnet, so the open valve adds almost nothing to line losses.
- No packing gland: As with all Dia-Flo valves, the diaphragm isolates the working parts and gives positive bubble-tight closure.
- Linings for harsh slurries: Rubber-lined and plastic-lined body options extend service life dramatically where the slurry is both erosive and corrosive.
Where It's Used
- Abrasive slurries: It earns its keep on flue gas desulfurization, titanium dioxide, fertilizers, phosphates and similar high-solids abrasives.
- Mining and chemicals: Mining operations and chemical plants are typical homes.
- Power-station FGD: FGD systems at power stations are another common installation.
Good to Know
- Body choices: Bodies come in unlined cast or ductile iron, stainless and cast steel, or with rubber or plastic linings.
- Optional exterior coatings: Protective exterior coatings can be added.
- Elastomer diaphragm grades: Butyl, EPDM, nitrile, natural rubber and neoprene cover different chemistries and temperatures, with FDA-compliant grades available.
- Manual or automated: Handwheel bonnets with an indicating stem or pneumatic actuators complete the package.
- Bore over chemistry: The straightway pattern trades the weir design's wider diaphragm choice for its unobstructed bore, so it is the pick when solids handling outranks chemistry.
