ITT Engineered Valves
Fabri-Valve HD150-300 Heavy Duty Knife Gate Valve
The Fabri-Valve HD150 and HD300 are heavy-duty knife gate valves engineered specifically for abrasive, high-pressure oil sands slurries. Chrome-carbide hard-faced double replaceable seats and a thick-walled carbon steel body give them bi-directional shutoff and service life in conditions that destroy ordinary slurry valves.
Product Benefits
- Built for the worst slurry: Oil sands slurry is among the most punishing services in industry, combining coarse abrasives with high line pressures.
- Full-thickness steel body: The HD line uses a carbon steel body built to full pressure-class wall thickness together with a hardened gate.
- Hard-faced double seats: Dual replaceable seats hard-faced with chrome carbide deliver long seat and valve life.
- Live-loaded packing: Multiple rows of resilient cored packing with internal live-loading maintain compression as the packing wears.
- Scrapers on every stroke: Dual gate scrapers clean the gate on each stroke, protecting the packing from abrasive carry-over.
Where It's Used
- Oil sands circuits: The HD valves were developed for the oil sands industry, covering hydrotransport, tailings, and other abrasive high-pressure slurry circuits.
- Two pressure classes: Two variants cover different pressure classes so the valve can be matched to the line's rating.
- Bore matched to the pipe: The full-port bore matches the inside diameter of the corresponding pipe schedule, minimizing turbulence and localized wear.
- Dead-end capable: With a doughnut flange, the valve is also suitable for dead-end service.
- Cold-climate ready: Low-temperature actuator options support installations in cold climates.
Good to Know
- Elastomer secondary seats: Standard sealing uses HNBR resilient secondary seats with EPDM as an option, both covering service from well below freezing.
- Built to standards: The valve is designed and marked to recognized pressure-vessel and face-to-face standards, with bi-directional metal-seated shutoff to a stringent leakage class.
- Hydraulic as standard: A heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder is the standard actuator, with pneumatic, bevel gear, and electric alternatives available.
- Rebuilt in place: Because both seats are replaceable, a worn HD valve is rebuilt in the line rather than removed from it.
