Pure-Flo Zero Static Upstream Sample & Downstream Purge

The Pure-Flo Zero Static Upstream Sample & Downstream Purge (ZUD) valve from ITT Engineered Valves combines an integral upstream sample valve and a downstream purge valve in a single zero-static use point. It lets operators sample the feed stream while purging and steam-sterilizing the downstream line from the same valve, keeping dead-leg to a minimum.

Product Benefits

  • Fewer hold-up volumes: In high-purity piping, every extra valve, weld and tee is a potential hold-up volume where product can stagnate.
  • Two jobs, one body: The ZUD consolidates sampling and downstream purging into one compact zero-static assembly, so there are fewer connections to install, inspect and clean than with separate valves piped together.
  • Drainable sample outlet: The sample outlet sits on a reducing ferrule specifically to maximize drainability, and the zero-static geometry keeps the branch volume small.
  • Sterile without compromise: That combination supports reliable sterilization and clean sampling without sacrificing the ability to blow down or steam the downstream process.

Where It's Used

  • Multi-duty use points: The ZUD is built for hygienic process systems where a single use point must do several jobs: draw a representative sample of the upstream flow, and purge, steam-sterilize or blow down the piping downstream of it.
  • High-purity lines: It is typically found at critical points of high-purity distribution and process lines where dead-leg control matters.
  • Sterile and aseptic duty: As part of the Pure-Flo zero-static family, it suits services where lines are routinely cleaned and steamed in place.
  • Loop integrity kept: It is designed so that sampling does not compromise the integrity of the loop.

Good to Know

  • Paired valve assembly: The assembly combines a compact Bio-Tek sample valve with a Pure-Flo purge valve on the main zero-static body.
  • 316L and higher alloys: Standard construction is 316L stainless steel, with higher alloys such as AL6XN and Hastelloy grades available for more aggressive services and other materials on request.
  • Hygienic end options: A range of hygienic end connections is offered, including OD tubing ends, DIN/ISO standards and Tri-Clover Tri-Clamp ferrules.
  • Specify size and orientation: Match the main valve and run sizes to your line, and orient the valve as recommended so the sample and purge outlets drain fully.
