ITT Goulds Pumps
3186 High-Temperature / Pressure Paper Stock / Process Pumps
The Goulds 3186 is the metric high-temperature, high-pressure paper stock and process pump for pulp mills, the ISO/JIS-flanged counterpart to the Goulds 3181. A centerline-supported casing and enclosed high-efficiency impeller keep it stable and efficient in hot, pressurized liquor services.
Product Benefits
- Centerline-mounted stability: Centerline mounting holds the casing true through the thermal expansion that comes with hot liquor and hot-oil duties.
- Simple operation and service: The self-venting top centerline discharge and back pull-out construction with a spacer coupling simplify both operation and maintenance.
- Renewable wear parts: Casing and impeller wear rings are standard and renewable, and the impeller can be adjusted externally to restore performance.
- Reliable sealing: The TaperBore PLUS seal chamber supports reliable mechanical seal operation, backed by PTFE dry-shaft O-rings and standard labyrinth seals.
- Shared spares with 3185: Power ends and impellers are fully interchangeable with the Goulds 3185, letting metric mills share spares across their heavy-duty stock pumps.
Where It's Used
- Hot kraft mill services: Typical services are digester recirculation, make-up liquor, and white and black liquor transfer: the hot, high-pressure heart of a kraft pulp mill.
- Hot oil duties: It also serves hot oil and other demanding high-temperature pulp-mill duties.
- Pulp and paper focus: Fluindo supplies the 3186 for the pulp and paper industry, particularly the digester and chemical recovery areas.
Good to Know
- Corrosion-resistant materials: Wetted materials center on corrosion-resistant grades such as duplex stainless and high-alloy austenitic stainless steels, with a spiral-wound stainless steel casing gasket and bronze or stainless labyrinth isolators. These choices suit the aggressive liquors the pump is designed around.
- Metric hardware: The 3186 uses ISO or JIS flange drilling and millimetre-dimensioned shaft parts; mills standardized on inch hardware should look at the Goulds 3181 instead.
- 50 and 60 Hz coverage: The hydraulic line is designed for full performance on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems.
