3796 i-FRAME Self-Priming Process Pumps
The Goulds 3796 i-FRAME is a self-priming ANSI process pump for the chemical process industries. Its one-piece dual-volute casing has priming and air-separation chambers built in, so it lifts liquid from below grade and re-primes on its own with no external priming equipment at all.
Product Benefits
- No external priming gear: Conventional pumps on suction-lift duty need an external priming chamber, an air separator or a suction check valve, all extra hardware that can fail. The 3796 integrates priming and air separation into the casing itself.
- Always ready to re-prime: The casing always retains enough liquid to re-prime, so a temporarily emptied suction line does not become a service call.
- No orphan design: Because it is built on the ANSI B73.1M platform and is parts-interchangeable with the Goulds 3196, it delivers self-priming capability without introducing an orphan design into the plant.
- Family reliability features: The i-FRAME power end and BigBore or TaperBore PLUS seal chambers carry over the same reliability features as the rest of the family.
Where It's Used
- Suction-lift services: Typical duties are industrial sumps, chemical transfer, filter systems and coal pile drainage, services where the pump sits above the liquid and must lift it.
- Dewatering and unloading: It is also applied to mine dewatering and tank-car unloading.
- Classic self-priming cases: These are the classic cases where self-priming saves both installation cost and operator attention.
Good to Know
- Open impeller design: The fully open impeller carries back pump-out vanes that reduce pressure at the seal chamber and help keep it clean.
- Direct ANSI fit: Standard flat-face ANSI flanges (raised-face optional) make it a direct fit in ANSI piping.
- Check the suction lift: When selecting a self-priming pump, check the static lift the installation requires against the pump's capability and keep the suction line short and tight, since priming time grows with suction-line volume.
- Few new spares: Since the 3796 shares parts with the 3196, plants already running Goulds ANSI pumps add very few new spares.
