5500 Severe Duty Slurry Pumps
The Goulds 5500 is a hard-metal centrifugal slurry pump built for the most punishing abrasive services. With extra-thick wet-end components and an extra heavy duty shaft, it is designed to keep running in duties that wear ordinary pumps out quickly, while handling large flows and high heads.

- Typical services: Applications include black liquor, sand slurries, mill waste, sludge, scrubber water and fly ash.
- Beyond process pumps: It suits the tough transfer duties where solids content and particle hardness rule out general-purpose process pumps.

- Wet-end materials: Options cover both sides of the selection problem: hard chrome irons such as HC600 and EnduraChrome for maximum abrasion resistance, and CD4MCu or 316 stainless steel where corrosion drives the choice.
- Flexible shaft sealing: Sealing can be packing, a mechanical seal or a dynamic seal (expeller), so the arrangement can match the service and the available seal water.
- Maintenance-friendly details: A positive Acme thread impeller attachment and a casing with integral rear liner and cast-in lifting lugs simplify service work.
- Heavy-duty rotor: An extra heavy duty shaft on a long bearing span with oil-lubricated double-row bearings comes as standard.
