CV 3196 i-FRAME Non-Clog Process Pumps

The Goulds CV 3196 i-FRAME is a non-clog ANSI process pump that pairs a concentric circular-volute casing with a recessed, induced-flow vortex impeller. Because the impeller sits out of the main flow, bulky, fibrous or shear-sensitive solids pass through at low velocity: gently, and without clogging.

Product Benefits

  • Induced-flow principle: Where a conventional impeller chops, mats and eventually blocks on fibrous solids, the CV 3196's recessed impeller induces flow through the casing rather than forcing solids through tight passages.
  • Gentle on solids: Low internal velocities minimise solids degradation, wear and shearing, which matters both for pump life and for products that must not be damaged in transit.
  • Air and low-flow tolerant: It tolerates liquids with entrained air or gas, which stall many standard centrifugal pumps, and it remains reliable at low flows.
  • Standard ANSI platform: All of this comes on the ANSI B73.1M platform with the i-FRAME power end, not as a special-purpose orphan.

Where It's Used

  • Fibrous mill streams: In pulp and paper mills it earns its keep on screen rejects, hydropulper service, sodium chlorate slurry and dye liquor.
  • White water and wastewater: It also handles long-fibre white water and fibrous wastewater.
  • When fibre rules: Any stream where fibre length, bulky solids or shear sensitivity rules out a conventional impeller is CV 3196 territory.

Good to Know

  • 3196 parts commonality: The pump uses all Goulds 3196 parts except the casing and impeller, so it adds non-clog capability to a plant without adding a new spares family.
  • Materials and sealing: Options include ductile iron, CD4MCuN, Alloy 20 and Hastelloy B and C, with TaperBore PLUS and BigBore seal chambers around the mechanical seal.
  • Efficiency trade-off: As with all recessed-impeller designs, gentle solids handling trades off some hydraulic efficiency against a conventional pump.
  • Choose it deliberately: Select it where clog-free operation and low shear are the requirement, and let plain duties stay on the standard 3196.
