ITT Goulds Pumps

ICM Metallic Magnetic Drive Process Pump

The Goulds ICM is a sealless, magnetic-drive chemical process pump built to ISO dimensional standards. Because torque is transmitted magnetically through a containment shell, there is no shaft seal at all, making it a natural choice for corrosive, toxic, and ultra-pure liquids where leakage is simply not acceptable.

Product Benefits

  • No mechanical seal: The mechanical seal is the most common failure and leakage point on a conventional process pump; the ICM removes it entirely.
  • Weld-free containment shell: Its one-piece, deep-drawn Hastelloy containment shell has no welds and a very high burst margin, giving genuine peace of mind on hazardous services.
  • Cartridge bearing design: Inside, the rotor runs on hard-wearing pure silicon carbide plain bearings housed in a replaceable cartridge, which simplifies overhauls.
  • Dry-run protection: An optional Dryguard PLUS system adds protection against dry-running, one of the classic risks with sealless pumps.

Where It's Used

  • Zero-leakage services: The ICM handles liquids that must not escape to the atmosphere or be contaminated.
  • Corrosive, toxic, ultra-pure: It suits corrosive and toxic process chemicals as well as ultra-pure fluids.
  • Pulp and paper chemistry: Within Fluindo's range it serves the pulp and paper industry, where aggressive process chemistry makes a leak-free pump particularly attractive.

Good to Know

  • Modular configurations: It is a modular family available frame-mounted or close-coupled, with a back pull-out design for easy servicing.
  • Broad material choice: Materials range from ductile iron and stainless steels to Alloy 20, Hastelloy, and Titanium.
  • High-temperature variant: A high-temperature variant (ICMP) extends the operating range for hotter services.
  • International standards: The design follows EN 22858/ISO 2858, ISO 5199, and ISO 15783, and flanges can be drilled to the major international standards.
  • Bearing lubrication check: As with all magnetic-drive pumps, correct selection should confirm the liquid keeps the internal bearings lubricated across the operating range.
