ITT Goulds Pumps

JC Slurry Pump

The Goulds Model JC is a medium-duty slurry pump for services that are both corrosive and abrasive. Extra-thick wet-end components, a replaceable wear liner and external impeller adjustment combine to give long wear life with low maintenance effort.

Product Benefits

  • Medium-duty sweet spot: The JC targets the broad middle ground of slurry pumping: services too aggressive for standard process pumps but not extreme enough to justify a severe-duty machine.
  • Renewable wear zones: Extra-thick wall sections and a replaceable suction cover liner concentrate the wear where it can be renewed cheaply, and external impeller adjustment restores performance without opening the pump.
  • Longer seal life: Back pump-out vanes on the impeller keep solids away from the stuffing box, extending seal life.
  • Lean spares inventory: A broad range of sizes shares just a handful of power ends, which keeps the spare-parts inventory small across an installed fleet.

Where It's Used

  • Mill wastes and liquors: Typical pulp and paper duties include paper mill wastes and liquors.
  • Mineral slurries: It also handles lime mud, precipitated calcium carbonate and kaolin clay.
  • Built for the combination: These are exactly the corrosive-abrasive combinations the JC's material and sealing options are meant to cover.

Good to Know

  • Material choices: Wet-end options include HC600 hard chrome iron for abrasion, plus 316SS and CD4MCuN where corrosion resistance leads the selection.
  • Dual-volute casing: On sizes where radial loads would be high, a dual-volute casing design keeps those loads down and protects the bearings.
  • Sealing flexibility: Choices are packing, mechanical seals in a TaperBore seal chamber, or a Dynamic Seal that eliminates seal water on suitable services.
  • Robust power end: The heavy-duty shaft carries a hook-type sleeve, and the radial and thrust bearings are generously sized for long service life with grease or oil lubrication.
