Manual Knife Gate Valve

The SLV Manual Knife Gate Valve uses a sharp-edged gate that shears straight through slurries, fibres and bulk solids, operated by a simple handwheel. Its full-bore opening and thin body make it the practical choice for isolating media that would clog or jam a conventional valve.

Good to Know

  • Service limits: Knife gate valves are isolation valves for lower-pressure, moderate-temperature service.
  • Open or closed, not throttling: They are meant to be run fully open or fully closed; throttling erodes the gate and seat. Keep those limits in mind when placing them in a system.
  • Packing gland maintenance: The gate passes through the packing on every stroke, so the gland is the natural maintenance point, and periodic adjustment keeps the stem area tight.
  • Actuated versions exist: For frequently cycled lines, the same valve concept is available with actuated drives, but the manual version remains the simplest and most economical.
