SLV
Wedge Gate Valve
The SLV Wedge Gate Valve is a flanged, full-bore isolation valve whose wedge-shaped gate lifts completely out of the flow path when open. It is the classic choice for on/off duty on water, oil, gas and steam pipelines where minimum flow resistance matters.
Product Benefits
- Straight-through bore: With the gate fully raised, the bore is unobstructed, so pressure loss across the valve is about as low as a valve can achieve.
- Wedge-tight isolation: The wedge action presses the gate firmly against both seats at closure, giving reliable, tight isolation.
- Hardened stem: The stem is hardened and tempered for durability in service.
- Hard-alloy seat faces: The seat faces are butt-welded with hard alloy, so the sealing surfaces resist wear and erosion through years of open/close cycles.
- Built to GB/JB standards: Construction and testing follow the GB/JB standards trail, keeping specification and like-for-like replacement straightforward.
Where It's Used
- Heavy industry block valve: It serves as the workhorse block valve in power generation, oil and petrochemical, chemical, metallurgy and mining plants.
- Water, oil, gas and steam: Typical lines carry water, oil, gas and steam.
- Isolation for maintenance: Anywhere a pipeline section, pump or piece of equipment must be isolated for operation or maintenance, a wedge gate valve is the default answer.
Good to Know
- Material range: Body and trim materials span carbon steel, austenitic stainless grades and a chrome-moly option, so the same pattern can be matched to general, corrosive or hotter services.
- Graphite packing: Packing is enhanced flexible graphite, well suited to steam.
- Medium and temperature together: Choose the material set for the medium and temperature as one decision, not separately.
- No throttling: Gate valves are meant to be fully open or fully closed, since throttling with a partially open gate causes vibration and erodes the sealing faces.
- Plan for the rising stem: Allow for the rising stem's height when planning installation and leave room above the handwheel for operation.
